Branch Rickey's most notable contribution was the signing of Jackie Robinson to break the color barrier in baseball. This document was presented to Rickey in 1948 and is signed by the mayor William O. Dwyer. Reads as follows: The City of New York Known all men by these presents, that I William O. Dwyer Mayor of the city of New York is hereby appoint Branch Rickey to the Mayors Committee for the commemoration of the Goldin Jubilee of The City of New York. This witness info bottom right on January 1st, 1948 and signed William O. Dwyer. Document has handling marks with a little staining and toned. Framed to 18 x 21 inches.
