Sullivan would make his major league debut in 1955 as the Red Sox catcher. In 1960 he would be the catcher for Opening Day game referred to as the "Presidential Opener" at Washington's Griffith Stadium. During his career, he would be a catcher, manager, general manager and club owner with the Red Sox. From 1978 through 1993, Sullivan was a general partner in the Boston Red Sox, when he bought in at $200,000 and received a $33 million dollar buy out.
