The White Sox made Baines the first overall pick in the 1977 MBL draft. Keeping with how cheap they were, Baines signed for a record low signing bonus price for a first round draft pick accepting the Sox's offer of $32,000. Bill Veeck had his eyes on Baines since he saw him playing little league when he was a 12 year old. When Baines was drafted he was considered one of the best prospects to come along in years. Many managers that saw him play, considered him the best player they had seen in years. He wore number 53 in 1977 with Appleton. This Rare soft ball style jersey is all original and tagged Rawlings size 42 and 1976 flag. Jersey shows nice wear with Baines' number 53 and Chicago on front all have the same even wear. Jersey was obtained by collector following the 1977 Appleton season. Jersey is signed on back once in 1977 and again during his MLB career. Amazing early style on the Fall of Fame member. JSA ALOA.
