Tim Richmond was a fan favorite and known as the "Hollywood" of NASCAR. Richmond grew up in a wealthy family and lived a freewheeling lifestyle, earning him the nickname "Hollywood". In describing Richmond's influence in racing, Charlotte Motor Speedway president Humpy Wheeler said, "We've never had a race driver like Tim in stock car racing. He was almost a James Dean-like character." Richmond would start in Indy car racing, winning Rookie of the Year. He would go on to win 13 NASCAR victories and 78 top ten finishes. He would pass away at the age of 34 from Aids. One of his friends would say he was handsome and women were always throwing themselves at him. He was one of NASCARS greatest draws and ESPN would do a documentary film "Tim Richmond: To The Limit" produced as part of ESPN's 30 for 30 series. He is considered a cult favorite among NASCAR collectors. Amazing suit with sponsor's names on chest and name embroidered. Included is photo of Richmond wearing the suit. Any items from Richmond are extremely scarce and never come up for sale. A family member found some suits and helmets but these were sold to a private collector. Following his purchase the family member found another suit and sold it to our consignor years ago with his top 50 NASCAR print which is in the current auction.
