This trophy was awarded to Campy for his outstanding play during the 1949 season. 1949 would be a big year for Campy when he was selected to his first National League All-Star team. Campanella received the most Valuable Player award in the National League three times: in 1951, 1953, and 1955. The trophy is engraved To Roy Campanella as the -1949- Outstanding Catcher of the National League From The Youth and the Father and Son Committee of the West Branch Y.M.C.A. Chester, Pa. February 6, 1950. The trophy is in excellent condition with the catcher on top, the ball catcher's throwing hand has been replaced. Trophy measures 8 3/4 by 5x15 1/2 inches.
