Home Yankee jersey worn by Maris during the 1966 season. Maris is the legitimate single season home run leader and he accomplished this feat without steroids. He was traded from the Kansas City Athletics to the New York Yankees after the 1959 season. Maris was an American League All-Star from 1959 through 1962, and American League Most Valuable Player in 1960 and 1961 and would win a Gold Glove Award in 1960. Maris appeared in seven World Series winning in 1961, 1962 with the Yankees and 1967 with the St Louis Cardinals. Maris also has his Yankee number 9 retired in Monument Park. Jersey shows nice wear and was worn during his final season in New York. Jersey is all original with the exception of the number 9 being restored. Tail has Spalding tagging with sewn in flag tag with size 44. Below is the year 66 is embroidered. Below the year is the wash instructions with flag tag Set 1 1966. Maris is in the collar but is loose around the bottom of the name. Please view images on our website. You can see the outline of the other numbers under the restored 9. It appears to be a 23 or 29. Another amazing jersey from the Harry Hillard collection.
