Irwin would win the Rookie of the Year in the Cup Series while driving for Robert Yates. He would drive car number 28 replacing Ernie Irvin. He would get off to a great start winning his first race at the Automobile Club of America race held at Daytona. During his rookie season, he would have 1 win and 4 top 10's. In 2000, NASCAR would lose a young star in a crash when Irwin would crash into the wall during practice for the race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. His crash was blamed on a stuck throttle. The rookie suit has Robert Yates tagging in collar with #28 car Sept 21, 1998, with Stand 21 specifications tag. The suit is covered in sponsors with Texaco and Havoline as the main sponsors. Sponsors listed include Coca-Cola, Raybestos, stand 21. Mac Tools, Goodyear and Ford to name a few. Suit shows nice use from a popular driver whose career was cut short.
