The Babe would pass away on August 1948 and following the Great Bambino's death his estate was overwhelmed with marketing requests to use his likeness. Abbottwares would be one of the companies and they wanted to make a clock. We are not sure about how many were made but they show up here and there. This clock is impressive in size, weight and likeness to Ruth. They were advertised at $29.95 back in the day which is around $250 today. The wood Art Deco style base is trimmed with brass and features a then-state of the art digital clock with seconds feature. There are two full-size brass baseballs flanking a 7" tall bust of The Babe. The baseball on the left commemorates "ONE SEASON 60 HOME RUNS" and the right "LIFETIME 714 HOME RUNS." Clock is not working and appears to have been repaired at one time that is virtually un-noticeable to the eye.
