Maris would join the Yankees in 1960 and his life would never be the same. When he joined the team he would become part of the M&M team with Mickey Mantle being on M and Maris the other. In 1961 Mantle and Maris was in the home run race to break Babe Ruth's record of 60 home runs in a season. Yankee fans were rooting against Maris as Mantle was a Yankee hero and the stress would cause Maris to start losing his hair. Towards the end of the season Mantle would get injured and would be out of the race. People though Mantle and Maris did not get along but in reality, they were good friends with mantle rooting him on. I would come down to the last game of the season with Maris needing a home run to break the record. Well, he would hit the 61st home run over the short right field fence and history would be made. Maris would pass away in 1985 and is a pretty tough autograph. Photo signed in pen grading 8.5. JSA ALOA.
