Times have changed since Mickey retired and Mariano Rivera. Rivera played his last game at the stadium to a full house and Mantle would play in front of under 6,000 fans against the Cleveland Indians on September 25, 1968. This game would be played at 2 pm on a sunny Wednesday afternoon with the Yankees in 5th place. No one was sure if this was Mantles last home game as at the time he was not even sure. He was no longer playing center field as his legs were giving out and he hit .238 in 1968. He would announce his retirement on March 1, 1969. Mickey would get a single in his first at-bat going 1 for 3 with a walk. The Yankees would lose to the Indians 3-0 with Mantle saying the Yankees from being No-hit with that single in his first at-bat. The scorecard is neatly scored in pen with a fold down the middle from being put in a pocket and handling wear. Must have for the serious Mantle collector. .
